Horizon Scanning Goals
The primary goals of the ALIGN horizon scanning system are to:
- Identify emerging health products and technologies.
- Track development and regulatory progress over time.
- Anticipate market entry and potential system bottlenecks.
- Support country-led prioritization and introduction planning.
Key Findings (Summary)
Based on the most recent data extraction (February 2026):
1. Robust Pipeline for Infectious Diseases
The pipeline for HIV, TB, and malaria remains strong, with a significant number of products in Phase 2 and Phase 3 development.
2. Growth in Diagnostic Innovations
There is a notable increase in the development of point-of-care and laboratory-based diagnostics, particularly for TB and malaria.
3. MNCH Expansion
The Hub has successfully integrated initial datasets for maternal, newborn, and child health, revealing a growing portfolio of medical devices and therapeutics targeting maternal disorders.
